5 basic emotions
- Happiness, which is pleasant, can make us feel content, joyful and fulfilled.
- Sadness is more uncomfortable and is related to feelings of disappointment, grief or even disinterest.
- Fear is important for survival. When we are afraid, muscles become tense and we go through what is called the flight or fight response.
- Disgust is a sense of revulsion as a response to an unpleasant smell, taste, sound or sight. Things such as spoiled food, the sight of blood or an infection can trigger disgust.
- Anger is a very powerful emotion and it can be characterised by feelings of aggression, irritability or frustration.
